The Bulldog Prayer

The Bulldog Prayer....

Tonight our Lord, we are gathered as members of the Bulldog Nation and we thank You for the blessings of being a Bulldog.

We thank You for fall afternoons between the hedges, we thank You that we are blessed to hear the Redcoats playing “Glory, Glory,” and we give thanks for the chills we get when the trumpet tones the battle hymn. We give thanks for the smell of ribs cooking on the grills of campus tailgates and we gave thanks for the chapel bell ringing after a victory, and are grateful for the sheer joy of wearing red and black.

We thank you for those moments that we treasure, Tarkenton to Herron, the flea-flicker versus Bama, Appleby to Washington, that kid (The Great, Herschel Walker) out of Johnson County running through two men, run Lindsey run, sugar falling from the sky, Butler kicking it a million miles, hobnailed boots that still hurt in Knoxville and Johnson in the end zone.

Tonight we thank you for Aaron Murray, a fine young man who did not charge us $180,000 to play quarterback.

Tonight we thank you that Mrs. Gathers and Mrs. Jenkins allowed their sons to discover biscuits and pound cake at an early age so that we might have a nose guard for the 3-4 defense.

Tonight we thank you Lord for the potato industry in Idaho so that the boys from Boise will have something to do after they learn they know nothing about football.

Tonight we thank you for the new Nike uniforms. We may not like them but we know they look better than a Gator in a tank top and jean shorts.

Tonight we thank you that as we gathered here that we have been blessed, we have been blessed to live in land that stands for freedom, for those who have given of themselves to defend our freedom. We thank you for the blessings of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and we pray for your blessings to continue on we who are gathered here this evening that may truly understand that it is great to be a Georgia Bulldog.

Tonight's the Night: Extreme Makeover Home Edition

Tonight is the night that the world will meet Nathan and Jenny Montgomery of Philo, IL!  This is an amazing family that unselfishly give of themselves day in and day out for our community here in Champaign County.  Tune in tonight to witness the unveiling of their new home!!!  ABC at 7PM CST.

Meet The Family

Meet Nathan Montgomery who gave up a lucrative engineering career to start a charity that feeds hundreds of hungry families in his community. In just seven days, team leader Ty Pennington, his designers and hundreds of volunteers will rebuild the crumbling home of Nathan, his wife Jenny and their four children – providing them with comfort and security they now cannot afford for themselves.
Nathan was a promising young engineer on his way to a six-figure management position when he first began volunteering to help the needy. Realizing he wanted to pursue charity work full time, Nathan stepped off the fast track to launch Salt and Light, the philanthropic organization he leads as executive director.

Nathan has seen the number of local families in need rise dramatically during the current economic crisis, and Salt and Light now feeds an average of 250 families each week.

Nathan, Jenny and the kids – sons Ashton, 13, and Benjamin, 9, and daughters Addison, 5 and Lillian, 4 – will go on vacation to Walt Disney World while “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” transforms their home. Led by Ty Pennington, the team includes designers Michael Moloney, John Littlefield, Didiayer Snyder, local builder Brady Homes and community volunteers.

No More Excuses!

So this morning I was on Facebook and saw that a friend of mine has started blogging. She is a mother of 8.......yes, that's right a mother of 8 and if she can find time in her hectic schedule to blog, then so can I can! NO MORE EXCUSES!!!!

Well, since my last post Jackson has turned 1 and Morgan is now 11 years old. Morgan is now back in school and is officially a 6th grader and is in middle school! How time flies. Seems like yesterday I was dropping her off at pre-k. I'm just not ready for her to grow up. I'm holding on like crazy to Jackson. We tease all the time that he's never gonna grow up and he is gonna live at home with mommy for the rest of his life. :)

Ok. I've got tons to do today and I'm already way behind. We had a long night of severe weather. I wasn't able to get enough sleep so I slept a little longer this morning than I would've liked. I've got a mountain of laundry that isn't getting washed by itself and Jackson needs to be changed and put down for his morning nap.

So, I promise to get back on the ball and start blogging again! Until my next post....have a fabulous day!!!!!

In Remembrance - April 19, 1995

14 years ago today, the world that I knew as secure and "safe" came to a screeching hault. No one in Oklahoma City that day ever thought that something so horrific, terrible and disturbing would or could ever happen in our own backyard. We all learned a lesson that day. It can happen to anyone, anywhere at anytime.
Today, I want to remember those who were lost that day and those that were left behind. The following are a few of the lives that have touched my life. Maybe not directly, but through the people that they left behind.

Scott D. Williams

"Scott Williams, 24, of Tuttle would have been a new father in about two months. His wife, Nikki Williams, is expecting their first child, a girl they already had decided to name Kylie."He was a wonderful person," said his aunt, Linda Lekawski. Williams, a salesman for William E. Davis and Sons Food Inc., was making a delivery to the child-care center at the federal building."

Miss Baylee Almon

Baylee Almon, who celebrated her first birthday the day before the terrorist bomb took her life, is described by family members as having a loving, heart-filled smile. An amateur photographer snapped her photo as a firefighter carried her away from the destroyed building. The photo appeared on the front pages of newspapers and magazines worldwide. Of all the thousands of photos taken at the site, the photo of Baylee captured the horror of the bombing and took it straight to the heart of a sorrowful nation.

Chase Dalton and Colton Wade Smith

"Brothers Colton Wade Smith and Chase Dalton Smith wanted to be together all the time, said their mother, Edye Smith. "They loved each other. They didn't want to go anywhere without the other," she said. The Oklahoma City boys died together in the bombing, shortly after Edye Smith dropped them off at the America's Kids day-care center at the federal building. The boys' father is Tony Smith. Edye Smith said the boys would be walking down the street and pass someone and Chase would quickly say, "Hi, mister. How're you doing?" Also, Barney was their favorite television show. "They were happy. They were real free-spirited," she said. "They were sweet." Chase, 3, and Colton, 2, were the only children of Edye Smith. "You can never hug and kiss your child too many times," she said."

Welcome Ya'll!

Well, I must say that this is a new day for me! I now have a Blog! Who would've thunk it?

Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog and checking it out. I am new at this blog thing so please be patient with me as I " tinker" with the site a bit. This is a learning process for me (I am a bit on the slow side when it comes to the computer) so Ryan is trying to teach me the ins and outs of the blogging world. Can you hear the frustration coming from both of us?

Anyway, this will be my way of keeping friends and family in the loop (so to speak) when it comes to our family. I can promise lots of laughs, sighs, tears and most of all, lots of love.

Keep checking back with me as I get this gig up and running!
